Ministry of Commerce urges Thai Trade Centers globally to issue statements to restore confidence

BANGKOK, 20 May 2014 -The Ministry of Commerce says exports numbers for the year so far can not yet be summarized, while urging all directors of Thai Trade Centers around the globe to issue statements to restore confidence in foreign partners. 

According to Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, the export figures generated so far this year have yet to be concluded while the export growth target of 5% will need to be discussed with each director of a Thai Trade Center in addition to relevant members of the private sector.

Moreover, she has urged all of the 64 Thai Trade Center directors located worldwide, to issue letters explaining the introduction of martial law and the political situation in Thailand, to build trust among foreign trading partners and to ensure that trade and exports can continue as normal.

Meanwhile, THAIFEX – World of Food Asia 2014, open from 21st – 25th May 2014 at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani Bangkok confirms that it is operating as planned. At the event, over 4,000 private companies are registered and over 25,000 international traders are expected to attend.
