BANGKOK, 19 July 2011-Permanent Secretary for Energy Mr. Norkhun Sittipong has indicated that the price of LPG would reach 21.13 THB per kilogram if the retail price for it is hiked by 3 THB per kilogram per quarter from 19 July 2011.

According to Mr. Norkhun, the Energy Ministry would gradually increase the price once every quarter following the policy of the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO). He said this approach would resonate well with the cost of LPG production at present.

The change will come into effect from July 19 onwards. The EPPO is also planning to introduce a new rate that will be collected to the Oil Fund from the industrial sector. Mr. Norkhun claimed the new measure was in accordance with the law. The rate will be 2.8037 THB per kilogram when VAT is excluded. This will have driven the price to stand at 3 THB per kilogram from initially 18.13 THB to 21.13 THB per kilogram.
