BANGKOK, 13 August 2015 – Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula reveals that the Ministry of Finance will promote social businesses in order to bridge social and economic gaps.

M.R. Pridiyathorn said his ministry was thinking of incentives, such as tax breaks, for both small and big private companies to set up cause-driven businesses.

In a social business, profits are partially spent on expansion to boost employment, the development of nearby communities, or charity purposes.

The Deputy PM explained that promoting this kind of business would not require special government budgets, since many private companies and robust small and medium enterprises have expressed interest in society-oriented projects.
