BANGKOK, 27 March 2012  – Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na Ranong yesterday presided over the opening ceremony of the 2nd Thailand International Creative Economy Forum (TICEF).

Organized under the main concept of “Grand to Ground: Capturing Local Value, Creating Global Impact”, the TICEF 2012 is aimed at raising awareness on creative economy among the general public. The event also serves as an inspiration for the Thai people to use the concept of creative economy in adding value to their products and services, which will in turn contribute to an even stronger and more sustainable economy for the country. In addition, Thailand will be promoted as the hub of creative industry in the Southeast Asian region.

Mr. Kittiratt explained that creative economy is an important strategy for the development of the domestic economy as it will add more value to Thailand’s industrial and service sectors, such as hospitals, educational institutes, entertainment and Thai-lifestyle businesses, which have already gained worldwide recognition.

The TICEF 2012 will be held during 26-27 March at the Centara Grand Hotel at Central World.
