BANGKOK, 2 August 2013 The Office of the Consumer Protection Board is keen on protecting consumers’ rights in the industrial sector by eliminating monopoly.

According to Mr. Wimon Janjirawutthikul, Advisor to PM’s Office Minister, he has assigned the Office of the Consumer Protection Board to speedily eradicate the problem of monopoly in the Thai industrial sector as it has been a threat to consumer rights. Consumers will not be treated fairly if monopoly still exists, he said.

The advisor urged all related agencies as well as consumers to watch for false advertising and sub-standard products. He said people have to be aware of what they are entitled to, so that their rights will not be violated.

He also expressed his confidence that consumers will in the future be able to form a network and fight against those unscrupulous entrepreneurs to prevent them from taking advantage of the people.
