Commerce Min to invite seafood exporters to discuss impacts of fishermen strike

BANGKOK, 1 July 2015 – The Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, has planned a meeting this week with Thai seafood exporters who are possibly affected by fewer amount of seafood supply due to a fishermen’s strike, Commerce Minister Chatchai Sarikalya revealed.

The Minister said although no negative result has been reported so far, he believes seafood prices are likely to rise. He has assigned the Department of Internal Trade to closely monitor the price situation to ensure seafood products are sold at reasonable prices. The minister vowed the government would not interfere to deviate the marketing mechanism.
