BANGKOK, 12 September 2013 The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) expects the subsidy money for rubber farmers to be ready for distribution in one month.

Deputy Finance Minister Tanusak Lekuthai, in his capacity as chairman of the BAAC board, said the bank would not have any liquidity problems when paying out the assistance money to the rubber farmers, because the Cabinet had already approved the allocation of money from the central budget. According to Mr. Tanusak, the bank was simply waiting for the money to be transferred to it. He expects the bank to commence distribution of the assistance money, set at 2,520 baht per rai of rubber plantation, within one month.

According to the minister, the BAAC will also help government agencies to check that people registering for the assistance money were, in fact, rubber farmers. This is to prevent any attempts to make false claims to the subsidy.
