A Samae San village chief go so tired of residents of the Sattahip sub-district parking in prohibited areas, he put up a sign marking one such zone was for “buffalo parking”.
It worked.

Whether drivers believed cattle actually would be tied up there – or they didn’t want to be thought of as a buffalo themselves – the scofflaw drivers stopped parking in the red-and-white marked spot in front of the 7-Eleven store in the middle of Moo 1 village.

Headman Banjerd Janted said April 17 motorbikes parked at the convenience store at a busy intersection caused traffic congestion. Locking wheels and issuing tickets didn’t stop it.

So he printed up a big vinyl sign designating the spot for buffalo parking and suddenly there was no problem.

No Thai person wants to be called a buffalo, so being seen parking there would have cost them too much “face”.
