Break a leg in Pattaya

Watch where you step in Pattaya.

Tourists increasingly are complaining that walking in the city is akin to an obstacle course, with a copious amount of ankle-breaking sidewalk holes posing the greatest threat.

The most-recent example was a meter-deep pothole that opened up across from Big C Extra on Central Road May 17. Some kind soul had put a stick in the hotel to warn pedestrians, but good luck seeing it after dark.

There was no sign Pattaya street repairmen knew or cared about the hole.

Residents said a tourist stumbled on an unstable block near the hole and fell in just the day before. The foreign visitor than shouted “Amazing Thailand!” after recovering from the face plant.
