Over 1,400 artists to perform at royal cremation of Princess Bejaratana

The Fine Arts Department has announced that over 1,400 artists will perform as part of the royal cremation ceremony of Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda. 

The royal cremation is set to take place at Sanam Luang on April 9.  The Department said three stages will be set up for entertainment arranged in accordance with royal traditions to honor the Princess.  The performers, mostly students from various colleges of dramatic arts, will perform non-stop from 7 p.m. on April 9 to 6 a.m. of April 10.

The performances are traditional Thai drama.  The main stage at the foot of Phra Pinklao Bridge will show Khon or traditional Thai mask dance drama.  The show on the second stage in front of the Supreme Court will consist of puppet shows and other traditional performances.  The third stage set in front of Thammasat University will feature a live symphony orchestra from Chulalongkorn University and other bands.
