PATTAYA, Thailand – Two 15-year-old boys were taken to Nongprue Police Station after allegedly throwing a ping-pong bomb onto a road in front of a passing police patrol before fleeing on a motorcycle for more than seven kilometers.

The incident occurred at around 10pm on November 4, when two patrol officers from Nongprue Police Station were riding along Nong Mai Kaen Road in Nongprue, Banglamung district. Near a convenience store, they encountered a group of teenagers travelling in the opposite direction on motorcycles. One of the riders allegedly threw a ping-pong bomb onto the road, causing a loud explosion in front of the officers. The patrol officers turned around and pursued the group.

The teenagers accelerated away, but their motorcycle eventually lost control and crashed near Wat Huai Yai on Huai Yai Municipal Road. The two teenagers sustained minor injuries after the chase, which covered more than seven kilometers. Police identified both teenagers as 15 years old and seized their red Honda PCX motorcycle, bearing a Phichit registration plate.

During initial questioning, the boys admitted setting off the ping-pong bomb and throwing it onto the road. They claimed they had been pressured by an older teenager to carry out the act and said they had bought the explosive device from a shop in the Nong Mai Kaen area. Police took both boys and the seized motorcycle to Nongprue Police Station and contacted their parents. Further action will follow the legal procedures for juvenile cases.
