Exceptionally clear seawater gives Bang Saen Beach a refreshing appearance, attracting attention to one of Chonburi’s most popular seaside destinations.

CHONBURI, Thailand – Bang Saen Beach in Chonburi attracted attention on October 31 after photographs showed unusually clear seawater along its shoreline, offering a beautiful coastal scene for visitors enjoying the late-October sunshine.

Located in Saen Suk Municipality, Bang Saen is one of Thailand’s best-known traditional seaside destinations and has welcomed generations of Thai holidaymakers for more than five decades. Its development as a popular beach resort gathered pace in the 1960s, with improved roads and growing investment helping turn the former fishing community into a weekend destination.

The beach is approximately 100 kilometres from central Bangkok, usually around 90 minutes to two hours by road depending on traffic. It is also about 55 to 60 kilometres north of Pattaya, making it an easy coastal trip for residents and visitors staying in the Eastern Seaboard resort city.

Bang Saen’s enduring appeal lies in its accessibility, relaxed atmosphere and distinctly Thai seaside character. Families and groups of friends come to enjoy the beach, rent deckchairs beneath the coconut trees, eat fresh seafood and spend time by the water. The beachfront also offers cycling, swimming and other water activities.

There is more to explore beyond the sand. Nearby attractions include Khao Sam Muk, with its coastal viewpoints and famous shrine; Laem Thaen; the Bangsaen Aquarium and Marine Science Museum at Burapha University; and Nong Mon Market, known for local snacks, seafood products and souvenirs. The area’s restaurants, cafés, accommodation and weekend markets also support a lively local tourism economy.

Unlike some of Thailand’s larger international beach resorts, Bang Saen has retained a strong domestic tourism identity. Its convenient location, affordable dining, family-friendly activities and familiar seaside atmosphere continue to draw visitors from Bangkok and across the Eastern Seaboard.

Just over an hour from Bangkok, Bang Saen remains a favourite Thai getaway, with its beachfront restaurants, seafood, family attractions and relaxed coastal atmosphere.
