Bank of Thailand Governor Vitai Ratanakorn meets Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh in Bangkok, describing their bilateral discussion as productive during the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Bank of Thailand Governor Vitai Ratanakorn has described his bilateral meeting with Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh as productive, praising his American counterpart as “such an incredible person” ahead of the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Thailand.

Vitai shared a photograph of the meeting on Facebook on October 15, describing the discussion as “a very productive bilateral meeting” and expressing his admiration for Warsh. “Such an incredible person krub!” Vitai wrote in his English-language post.

The meeting took place during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group, being held in Thailand from October 12 to 18. The event brings together financial policymakers, central bankers, government representatives and economic experts to discuss global economic conditions and financial challenges.

The discussions come at a time when economies worldwide are facing pressure from borrowing costs, energy prices and uncertainty over the global economic outlook. Thailand is also confronting domestic challenges, including high household debt and concerns over consumer purchasing power.

Bilateral meetings between central bank leaders provide opportunities to exchange views on economic developments, monetary policy and financial stability, although Vitai’s public post did not disclose specific details of the discussion with Warsh.

Thailand’s hosting of the annual meetings places the country at the centre of international economic discussions this week, bringing global financial leaders together in Bangkok for dialogue on the challenges facing the world economy.
