BANGKOK, Thailand – Tourist Police Patrol Bangkok by Bicycle for IMF-World Bank Meetings

On the afternoon of 14 October, Pol. Lt. Gen. Phongsiam Meekhanthong, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, led officers on bicycle patrols through the Ratchaprasong-Siam area in Bangkok, covering hotels, shopping centers, and major attractions. The patrols aim to reassure delegates attending the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026, as well as residents and visitors across Bangkok.

Why bicycles?

They allow officers to move easily through the busy city center and crowded areas, reach spots that cars cannot, and stay close to the people they serve, ready to meet and assist residents and tourists in person.

The Tourist Police are working proactively, combining personnel and technology under the guiding principle:

-Safe

-Smooth travel

-Minimal disruption to the public

The aim is to keep everyone safe and make getting around easier during this major international gathering, while giving visitors confidence in Thailand as a host. Whenever you visit Thailand, you can feel at ease. (PRD)
