BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste at Government House, during his official visit to Thailand on 9-10 October 2026. Both sides agreed to strengthen relations and expand cooperation in all areas, including:

∙ Exchanging high-level visits
∙ Establishing bilateral consultation mechanisms
∙ Developing human resources through scholarships and training
∙ Promoting trade, investment, and tourism

The cooperation aims to create economic opportunities and benefits for the people of both countries.



Thailand confirmed its readiness to support Timor-Leste in building capacity in various fields, while Timor-Leste is ready to encourage Thai private-sector investment in services and infrastructure.

The two countries will also work together to promote peace and stability in the region and strengthen good relations with neighboring countries, for the shared benefit of their peoples and the wider region. (PRD)
