SAMUT SAKHON, Thailand – A major fire broke out on Friday morning (Oct 9) at a snack manufacturing factory in Om Noi, Samut Sakhon province, causing estimated damage of tens of millions of baht. More than 20 firefighting and support vehicles responded to the incident on Setthakit 1 Road in Krathum Baen district. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
The blaze was reported at approximately 4:30 a.m. and quickly spread through a two-story building housing administrative offices, production facilities, and a storage warehouse. Firefighters worked for more than an hour to contain the flames and prevent them from reaching other buildings within the factory compound.
The fire intensified in the production and storage areas, where combustible materials contributed to its spread. Part of the building’s rear roof collapsed, raising concerns about structural safety. Krathum Baen District Chief Phirunrot Nakdontree, who oversaw the emergency response, ordered the premises secured to prevent unauthorized access.
Initial inquiries suggest the blaze may have originated in the office area, though the exact cause remains unknown. Forensic investigators will examine the scene once the fire is fully extinguished, while structural engineers will assess the building’s condition. Authorities have yet to determine the full extent of the damage. (NNT)
