UBON RATCHATHANI, Thailand – Thailand is hosting the 5th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics for Juniors (IOAA-jr 2026) from November 1 to 8 in Ubon Ratchathani province, welcoming lower-secondary school students from more than 25 countries.
The Promotion of Academic Olympiad and Development of Science Education Foundation (POSN), under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, will jointly organize the event in cooperation with Ubon Ratchathani University and provincial authorities. Students will take part in academic challenges testing their scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills. Participants will join discussions to exchange cultural experiences, build international friendships, and connect with peers who share an interest in astronomy.
Hosting IOAA-jr 2026 provides Thailand with an opportunity to promote science education and international academic cooperation while welcoming young talent and visiting delegations to Ubon Ratchathani. The event is also expected to inspire greater interest in astronomy and astrophysics among young students. (NNT)
