BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Public Health Ministry and Disease Control Department are closely monitoring reports of plague in Russia, with no signs of the disease detected in the country, Public Health Minister Pattana Promphat said on Tuesday. Pattana said officials are coordinating with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to track the situation closely, noting that Russian authorities have reportedly contained over 100 individuals identified as at-risk.
While no special screening measures or travel restrictions have been imposed at airports, authorities have advised related transport agencies to remain vigilant. At present, there are no indications of the disease or infected individuals entering Thailand, Pattana said, adding that no additional measures are required unless further incidents occur, as officials are currently requesting more information.
