
PHUKET, Thailand – A 35-year-old American tourist was found dead in his hotel room in Patong on October 4, with police investigating the cause of death. Patong Police were notified at about 2 p.m. that a foreign male tourist had been found dead inside a hotel on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Road in Patong, Kathu district.
Officers found the man, 35, an American national, lying dead on the bed. He was not wearing a shirt and was dressed in shorts. Police found no signs of a disturbance or property being searched, and no one else was inside the room. Police learned that the tourist had been staying at the hotel alone and was due to check out on October 4.
Investigators worked with an on-duty doctor to examine the body and documented the scene with photographs, records and a location map. The body was then taken by Kusoldharm Phuket rescue workers from the Patong unit to the mortuary at Vachira Phuket Hospital for further examination.
Police have contacted the U.S. Embassy to notify the deceased’s relatives and coordinate arrangements for the body to be returned to his family. The cause of death remains under investigation.
