
PRACHIN BURI, Thailand – The Ministry of Public Health has deployed field hospitals and medical teams to support healthcare services for those affected by flooding and has distributed more than 50,000 athlete’s foot treatments across 12 provinces. Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr. Somruek Jungsaman announced on October 3, 2026, that the ministry is continuing flood-related health services in line with Minister Pattana Phromphat’s policy.
Field hospitals have been set up at Kheha Chumchon Lat Krabang School and Ban Sang Hospital in Prachin Buri Province, along with mobile medical teams, telemedicine services, and mental health support. Medical services have been provided 159,336 times, with 81,078 vulnerable individuals receiving care and 20,319 undergoing mental health screening. The ministry also supports healthcare at 402 evacuation centers. Health Regions 4 and 6 have distributed 50,866 units of athlete’s foot medication across 12 provinces.
The Permanent Secretary reported that flooding persists in 25 provinces. In total, 141 healthcare facilities in 18 provinces have been affected, with 91 operating and 50 temporarily closed. He emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous healthcare services in flood-affected communities and evacuation centers. Authorities are monitoring emergency medical services, patient referrals, care for vulnerable groups, mental health needs, and local medical supplies.
The ministry is regularly assessing local needs for medicines and supplies to ensure uninterrupted service and is increasing public awareness of drowning and electrocution risks. (NNT)
