MRTA extends free parking at eight park-and-ride facilities along Bangkok’s rail network until October 9 to assist residents still affected by flooding.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has extended free parking at eight park-and-ride facilities along Bangkok’s rail network for another seven days, through October 9, to assist people still affected by flooding. MRTA Governor Kajpachon Udomthamphakdee said on October 1 that free parking at six facilities under MRTA’s direct responsibility, previously scheduled to end on October 2, will now continue until October 9. The measure has also been extended to two facilities operated by concessionaires Northern Bangkok Monorail Co., Ltd. (NBM) and Eastern Bangkok Monorail Co., Ltd. (EBM), bringing the total to eight locations.

The participating facilities are:

  • Green Line: Khu Khot Station and Yaek Kor Por Aor Station
  • Orange Line: Khlong Ban Ma Station
  • MRT Purple Line: Khlong Bang Phai, Sam Yaek Bang Yai and Bang Rak Noi Tha It stations
  • Pink Line: Min Buri Station
  • Yellow Line: Si Iam Station

MRTA said the extension is intended to ease the burden on residents whose communities remain affected by flooding and provide greater convenience for those using public transport. The measure follows a policy direction from Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, who called on agencies under the Transport Ministry to consider appropriate assistance for people affected by the ongoing floods. MRTA said it will continue monitoring the flood situation and consider further measures where necessary.
