LONDON, United Kingdom — Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has invited British businesses and institutional investors to expand trade and investment with Thailand, highlighting opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI), science, technology, innovation, clean energy and healthcare. During his visit to London, Anutin met UK government and business representatives, including UK Trade Envoy Matt Western MP, executives from Virgin Atlantic and Rolls-Royce, and leading institutional investors at a meeting organized by the Stock Exchange of Thailand and UBS. He also addressed a reception attended by more than 50 UK government and business representatives.

Anutin said Thailand and the UK share long-standing ties and common support for multilateral trade, free trade and international rules. He pointed to Thailand’s investment potential, saying foreign direct investment in the country increased 37% over the past year, while the government is pursuing free trade agreements and OECD membership.

The prime minister highlighted opportunities in future industries, particularly AI, healthcare and data centers. He said Thailand is also promoting renewable energy, including wind and solar power, while studying the feasibility of small modular nuclear reactors.

On the energy transition, Anutin said the government supports moving from fossil fuels toward cleaner energy in both industry and households. He also highlighted efforts to develop a more highly skilled workforce through education and training.

Anutin told British investors that trade and investment between Thailand and the UK remain below the potential of both economies. He invited companies and financial institutions to consider opportunities in Thailand’s capital markets, direct investment and other assets. He also cited government stability and policy continuity as factors he said could support long-term investment decisions, while pointing to government efforts against online scams and other cyber threats.

The visit was part of Anutin’s broader September 20–27 overseas mission, which included the UN General Assembly in New York, meetings with international investors and discussions on digital technology and AI. Thai Government
