SATTAHIP, Thailand – The Rotary Club of Utapao International joined Senior Captain Thamniab Phakpoon in supporting local education with a 20,000-baht donation to Ban Hin Wong School on September 26.
The contribution was presented as part of a Pha Pa for Education merit-making initiative, a traditional Thai fundraising effort that brings together individuals, organisations and communities to raise funds for schools and educational development.
Ban Hin Wong School Director Prinya Rueanngoern, accompanied by teachers and educational personnel, received the donation on behalf of the school.
Representing the Rotary Club of Utapao International at the presentation were President Donhathai Kwanprai, Charter President Lalinda Siripornmanut, Past President Supaporn Intarakosit, Senior Captain Thamniab Phakpoon and Past President Thananchaya Yoosamran.
PP Thananchaya, who is also a teacher, played an important role as the coordinator and saphan bun, literally a “bridge of merit,” bringing the donors and the school together to make the charitable initiative possible.
The 20,000-baht contribution from Senior Captain Thamniab and the Rotary Club of Utapao International, part of Rotary International District 3340, will be used to support and further develop the quality of education for students at Ban Hin Wong School.
School administrators expressed their sincere gratitude to Senior Captain Thamniab and the officers and members of the Rotary Club of Utapao International for their generosity and, particularly, for recognising the importance of education and investing in opportunities for young people.
The school said the funds would be carefully used to provide the greatest possible benefit to its students while contributing to the continuing development of the school and its educational programmes.
The donation reflects the Rotary Club of Utapao International’s growing commitment to humanitarian and community service on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard. The club received its Rotary International charter on July 14, 2025, beginning with 16 charter members. Since then, it has continued to grow and now has 26 members, strengthening its ability to undertake service projects in Sattahip and surrounding communities.
The club’s work places particular emphasis on building partnerships with local organisations, schools and communities, transforming Rotary fellowship into practical service for people in need.
The Ban Hin Wong School initiative demonstrates how cooperation between educators, community-minded individuals and Rotary volunteers can turn a relatively modest contribution into meaningful support for children and their future.
For the Rotary Club of Utapao International, the presentation also reinforces Rotary’s long-standing commitment to education and community development while strengthening the club’s ties with schools and families in communities surrounding UTapao and the Eastern Seaboard.
