BANGKOK, Thailand – Heavy rain and sudden flooding across Bangkok and surrounding areas are beginning to affect retail shopping patterns, with residents in flooded areas increasingly turning to nearby convenience stores for food and essential supplies.
Several 7-Eleven branches, particularly those in residential communities and flood-affected areas, have reported noticeably reduced stocks on shelves. Locations mentioned include branches in Asoke, Vibhavadi Rangsit near Central Ladprao, Din Daeng, Prachaniwet 3, Tha Sai and the Muban Nakkeela Laemthong area of Saphan Sung–Krungthep Kreetha.
Reports from affected areas found shelves at some branches significantly depleted, particularly stocks of instant noodles, ready-to-eat meals, eggs, rice, beverages and drinking water.
In some locations, flooding has also disrupted deliveries, preventing supply vehicles from reaching stores and making it difficult to replenish products quickly. Individual branches have been placing additional orders, with new deliveries expected from the afternoon through the evening of September 26.
The situation remains limited to individual stores and affected areas, rather than indicating a shortage across the entire 7-Eleven network. There has been no announcement from CP All confirming a citywide shortage of products across its Bangkok stores.

The pattern reflects concentrated demand at neighborhood convenience stores, combined with difficulties travelling to larger retail outlets and delivering supplies in some flooded areas. By contrast, major retailers including Makro and Lotus’s, as well as supermarkets in shopping malls, have reported that their overall supplies remain sufficient, highlighting how the impact varies according to store formats and distribution networks.
CP All had previously outlined measures to prepare for flooding, including monitoring conditions, moving products and equipment to safer locations when risks emerge, and activating contingency supply-chain plans when transport routes are affected. The company has also prepared alternative transport routes and distribution centers, while its Crisis Assessment Team (CAT) monitors developments and coordinates operations around the clock to minimize disruptions to deliveries to stores.
