PATTAYA, Thailand – A tour boat sank near Jomtien Beach on September 26 amid heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas, while passengers were reported to have escaped safely. The incident occurred close to the shoreline as waves and gusty winds affected the Jomtien coast. Initial reports indicated that passengers were able to react quickly and get to safety after the boat began taking on water.
The boat remained submerged near the beach and quickly became a focus for tourists, who gathered to take photographs. Rough seas also pushed rubbish and debris onto the beach, while several beach-chair operators temporarily suspended their services as a safety precaution.
Authorities and local operators urged visitors to take extra care while conditions remain unsettled, particularly around the shoreline and on boats. Tourists were advised to avoid swimming and water activities during periods of strong waves and winds and to closely monitor weather and marine conditions before travelling by boat.
