PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya beach umbrella and lounger operators gathered at Pattaya City Hall on September 23 to raise concerns over a shortage of parking near the beach, saying limited access is making it harder for tourists to visit and hurting their businesses. The operators said parking spaces available to residents and visitors are currently insufficient, making it difficult for people travelling to Pattaya Beach to find convenient places to leave their vehicles. They said the problem is also affecting beach businesses directly, with fewer tourists using the beach and spending less on umbrella and lounger services, reducing both daily income and employment opportunities.
The group asked Pattaya City officials to consider providing more suitable and sufficient parking areas near the beach to make access easier for residents, tourists and beach operators. They also called for cooperation between the city and local businesses to find a balanced approach to managing limited beachfront space while maintaining a pleasant environment for visitors. The operators said better parking access would help support beach tourism and allow businesses along Pattaya’s shoreline to continue operating in a sustainable way.
