SAMUI, Thailand – A motorcyclist is warning others to take extra care on Koh Samui roads after repeatedly losing control on slippery surfaces, with accumulated dirt and waste residue becoming particularly hazardous when wet. The rider explained that when roads are dry, residue from waste and dirt can form a coating on the surface. When rain arrives, the coating can become oily and slippery, creating a serious hazard for motorcycles.
The rider said the danger became clear through personal experience after falling from a motorcycle several times. Oil-like residue was left on clothing, arms and legs after the falls and proved difficult to remove. The warning comes as rain can quickly transform apparently normal road surfaces into slippery hazards, even when motorists are travelling carefully. Motorcyclists are advised to reduce speed, avoid sudden braking or sharp turns and remain particularly cautious on roads with visible dirt, oil or accumulated residue. The message from the rider is simple: accidents can happen to anyone, so extra caution is needed whenever road conditions change.
