BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun met a U.S. Department of Commerce delegation in Bangkok on September 16 to discuss expanding economic cooperation in trade, investment, and technology. The delegation was led by Kelly Coldiron, deputy assistant secretary for Asia and acting executive director of SelectUSA, with senior Thai trade, foreign affairs, and investment officials also attending. Thailand presented its established industrial supply chains as potential partners for U.S. advanced-technology industries, seeking closer links between Thai manufacturing capabilities and American technological expertise. The talks focused on opportunities to expand investment, strengthen supply chain connections, and deepen business cooperation for mutual benefit.
The Thai side also proposed greater access to U.S. technology for small and medium-sized enterprises, enabling them to upgrade production capabilities and participate more effectively in advanced industrial supply chains. The proposal would extend opportunities from closer technological cooperation to smaller Thai manufacturers. Following the meeting, Suphajee hosted a dinner for the U.S. delegation and executives from Thai companies operating in the United States.
