PATTAYA, Thailand — The countdown is on. On Saturday, September 19, the world-renowned Tiffany’s Show Pattaya Theatre will once again take centre stage as 27 contestants from around the globe compete for the Miss International Queen 2026 crown.
But this milestone 20th-anniversary edition is about considerably more than beauty, glamour and a coveted crown. Under the theme “The Evolving Legacy: Empower Every Voice,” Miss International Queen is presenting itself as a global platform celebrating identity, culture, diversity and equality.
Since its launch in 2004, the competition organised by Tiffany’s Show Pattaya has developed into an international event that brings transgender women together on one of Thailand’s most recognisable stages. The 2026 edition is also being positioned as part of Thailand’s growing role as an international destination for Pride, culture, fashion, tourism and entertainment.
A journey beyond the stage
The contestants’ journey has taken them well beyond the bright lights of the Pattaya theatre. After arriving in Thailand in early September, the 27 delegates were officially introduced at the Welcome and Sash Presentation Ceremony at SCBX NEXT TECH at Siam Paragon in Bangkok on September 7.
The following days have provided opportunities to experience different aspects of Thai culture and hospitality. One of the most elegant highlights was “The High Tea Heritage: Culture & Couture” at the Authors’ Lounge of the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. The event brought together Thai textile heritage and contemporary fashion, with the contestants presenting beautifully crafted Khomapastr fabrics tailored by leading Thai designers. The showcase also featured three former Miss International Queen titleholders, linking the current generation with the competition’s 20-year history.
The journey then continued to Hua Hin, where the contestants explored the historic seaside resort through a programme combining culture, heritage, fashion, nature and wellness. Their itinerary included a journey aboard the SRT Royal Blossom and visits to local landmarks and cultural attractions.
Celebrating Thailand through international eyes
These activities are more than colourful additions to a beauty competition. They provide Thailand with an opportunity to introduce its traditions, craftsmanship, hospitality and destinations to an international audience through the contestants themselves.
With millions of people following the contestants through social media and digital platforms, each location becomes part of a wider international showcase of Thailand.
The programme has also included the National Costume and Talent Quest, where the delegates presented elaborate costumes representing their countries and demonstrated their individual talents. The event was open to the public, adding another opportunity for audiences to meet the contestants before the final competition.
More than a crown
Behind the elaborate costumes, evening gowns and spectacular stage performances are 27 individual stories. The contestants have travelled from countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas and beyond to represent their nations on an international stage. For many, reaching Miss International Queen represents years of personal development and the opportunity to stand publicly in front of an international audience.
That is an important part of the competition’s continuing appeal. The contestants are not simply competing for a title; they are also sharing their personalities, experiences, aspirations and individual journeys. The organisers describe the event as having evolved from a pioneering platform for transgender visibility into what they now call a “Global Equality Platform”, bringing together equality, culture, fashion, tourism, entertainment and the MICE sector.
The road to the Pattaya finale
The Preliminary Competition takes place at Tiffany’s Show Pattaya Theatre on Thursday, September 17, from 2pm. Contestants will face the Swimwear, Evening Gown and Speech rounds, with the Best Performance winner earning an automatic place in the Top 12.
Then, on Saturday, September 19, at 8pm, the Grand Finale will bring the 20th-anniversary celebrations to a spectacular conclusion. The programme will feature the Best National Costume presentation, Evening Gown and Swimwear rounds and the final question-and-answer segment before the field is reduced to the Top 12, Top 6 and Top 3. The evening will also include the farewell walk of Midori Monét, Miss International Queen 2025, before the new Miss International Queen is announced and crowned.
For Pattaya, the event represents another opportunity to welcome an international audience and showcase the city as the home of a competition that has built a remarkable global following over two decades. And while one contestant will ultimately receive the crown, the spirit of Miss International Queen 2026 extends well beyond that moment.
