PATTAYA, Thailand – A shooting at a kindergarten in east Pattaya, Banglamung district, Chonburi province, fatally injured a teacher and prompted the immediate evacuation of students and staff. Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong, accompanied by officials, traveled to the scene to oversee the response as police and local authorities secured the area. All 44 children at the Nong Pla Lai Municipal Kindergarten were safely evacuated to a designated location, along with three teachers and three other school personnel. Governor Naris ordered the kindergarten to suspend classes immediately, while psychological support is being arranged for children and staff affected by the incident.
Preliminary information indicates that the incident occurred in a first-floor corridor and involved the teacher’s spouse, who was identified as the suspect. The individual reportedly left the scene and returned to his home in a nearby residential community. Police later surrounded the residence and began negotiations to secure the suspect’s peaceful surrender.
