CHONBURI, Thailand – A 22-wheel trailer carrying a full load of concrete pipes erupted in flames on Route 331 in Phanat Nikhom on Friday afternoon, sending the driver and a passenger scrambling for their lives. The fire broke out at about 1:30 p.m. on September 4 on the Kabin Buri–Sattahip section of Route 331, near Moo 15 in Nong Hiang subdistrict, as the truck was heading towards Ko Pho.
Rescue workers from the Sawang Het Thung Hiang Foundation rushed to the scene and called in firefighters from the Nong Hiang Sub-district Administrative Organization. Flames had already engulfed the truck’s cab and driver’s compartment when firefighters arrived. Crews launched a rapid attack with water and brought the blaze under control after about 20 minutes.
The cab and front section of the truck were badly damaged, but the concrete pipes stacked on the trailer escaped major damage and remained on the vehicle. The driver and passenger managed to get out before the flames spread further. Both escaped unhurt, and no deaths were reported. Authorities are investigating what caused the truck to catch fire.
