PATTAYA, Thailand – A 41-year-old Scottish man suffered a serious head injury after his Thai girlfriend allegedly attacked him with glasses and a soda bottle during an argument at a Pattaya restaurant early Thursday morning. Police from Pattaya City Police Station were called to the restaurant in Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 25 at about 12:16 a.m. on Aug. 27 following reports of a fight. Rescue workers found the Scottish man sitting at a table with heavy bleeding and a large wound to his head. He was given first aid before being rushed to hospital.
Broken glass was scattered across the restaurant and some property had been damaged. The situation remained tense when officers arrived, with the woman still visibly angry and shouting.
The 49-year-old Thai woman, identified as Prang, from Khon Kaen, told officers that the injured man was her boyfriend of about four years.
She said she had discovered that he had been secretly communicating with a woman working at a bar and confronted him to find out the truth. According to her account, the argument escalated when the man allegedly told her directly, “I love her.” Enraged, she said she lost control and grabbed a glass and a soda bottle, striking him several times and leaving him with a bleeding head wound.
Police are investigating the incident and will proceed with the relevant legal action.
