BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Meteorological Department is monitoring three tropical systems that have formed over the western Pacific — Tropical Storm Narra, Tropical Storm Gaenari and Typhoon Saudel — with current forecasts indicating that none is expected to move directly into Thailand.
Tropical Storm Nara is currently moving across the Gulf of Tonkin and is affecting Vietnam. It is forecast to move ashore in southern Guangxi, China, between August 25 and 26. Tropical Storm Gaenari is moving toward Taiwan and is expected to pass close to the island between August 24 and 25. Authorities are advising people travelling to Taiwan and nearby areas to monitor weather conditions and check travel information before departure.
Typhoon Saudel, the 18th tropical cyclone to form over the western Pacific this year, has strengthened into a typhoon. It is moving toward the Okinawa region of Japan and is also expected to approach Taiwan.
Although the three storms are not forecast to move into Thailand, authorities continue to monitor their development and tracks closely, particularly for any indirect effects on weather conditions.
People planning to travel to areas along the storms’ projected paths are advised to follow official weather updates and take necessary precautions.
