Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul orders SBPAC to take aid directly to people affected by violence in Thailand’s southern border provinces, with rapid-response teams and the 1880 hotline helping track every case until assistance is received.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) to step up assistance for people affected by violence in the southern border provinces, with teams deployed to communities and a new hotline established to track every case.

SBPAC has set up an operations center using a case-management system to follow affected residents from initial registration and eligibility checks through to compensation and assistance. Three provincial rapid-response teams are already working across the three southern border provinces.

A 1880 hotline has also been opened for residents and families to ask about their rights and request assistance. Each case will be entered into the system and followed until help is received. Authorities will also introduce a real-time dashboard showing the status of each case, including cases already assisted, under processing, missing information or documents, and those that have not yet been reached.

Government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek said the system is designed to ensure people do not have to visit multiple agencies themselves. Assistance will cover medical treatment, rehabilitation, families and vulnerable groups, as well as damage to homes, property, businesses and livelihoods. Anutin stressed that government agencies should go directly to people in need and ensure assistance reaches affected families quickly and comprehensively. (TNA)
