BANGKOK, Thailand – Public Relations Department (PRD) Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem visited a pilot public relations village in Ubon Ratchathani province to assess local communication networks and explore opportunities to better integrate with national media platforms. Joined by PRD Advisor Dusit Singkhiri and PRD Region 2 Director Panida Chanthawat, the Director-General reviewed operations at Ban Nong Song Hong in Warin Chamrap district. The delegation was received by Ubon Ratchathani Chief Administrative Officer Sorachai Krongyudh, local leaders, and village broadcasting volunteers.

During the visit, the Director-General reaffirmed the department’s support for local administrative organizations in upgrading village broadcasting towers, which are essential for community outreach. To increase public awareness, the PRD is providing local agencies with access to its wider media infrastructure. The PRD operates five television channels, over 100 radio stations, and more than 700 online accounts. Officials stated that these national platforms can connect with about 80,000 village broadcasting towers nationwide. Local towers will be able to broadcast PRD radio programs directly and adapt national television and digital content for targeted distribution within communities.

In addition to disseminating public information, this integrated network provides a robust platform for economic development. The Director-General highlighted that communities can use these nationwide broadcast channels and international media partnerships to promote local products. The initiative seeks to help sub-district enterprises expand their market reach and showcase community products to domestic and global audiences. (NNT)
