Tourism Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul promotes sustainable tourism and backs plans to transform Bueng Khun Thale into a major regional landmark.

SURAT THANI, Thailand – Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul is advancing the “Surat Thani Model” to position the province as a pilot destination for sustainable tourism, with plans to develop Bueng Khun Thale as a major regional landmark. ​During an official visit to Surat Thani, the Minister met with the provincial governor, the President of the Surat Thani Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), and other government agencies. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing tourist safety and overall visitor experience.


A key aspect of the initiative is supporting community-based tourism by issuing official certifications to local businesses to ensure quality and strengthen visitor confidence. ​The Minister acknowledged the local administration’s commitment to regional development and pledged full support for the PAO’s project to transform Bueng Khun Thale into a leading tourism landmark. The Ministry will also promote local sports initiatives, focusing on athletic excellence, health, and career opportunities within the community. (NNT)
