WELLINGTON, New Zealand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul began his official visit to New Zealand on August 21 with a traditional Māori welcome at Government House in Wellington, before meeting New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Accompanied by his spouse, Anutin took part in Māori welcoming traditions, including the Wero ceremonial challenge, Karanga call, and Haka. He was later received by Luxon and his spouse before the national anthems were played, and he inspected a guard of honor.

The two prime ministers then held talks on bilateral relations, covering economic cooperation, regional peace and stability, and closer people-to-people ties. Anutin also signed the official visitors’ book and exchanged commemorative gifts with his host. The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and New Zealand. Both leaders discussed advancing their strategic partnership through practical cooperation and continued their discussions in a full delegation meeting. (NNT)
