PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City is bringing together experienced veterans and younger professionals in a new working team tasked with strengthening tourism, sports, culture and the city’s public image. The first meeting of the Pattaya mayor’s working group on tourism, sports, culture and organizational image was held on August 21 at Pattaya City Hall, chaired by Mayor Poramet Ngampichet. Deputy Mayors Damrongkiat Pinitkan and Krisana Boonsawad, who serve as co-chairs of the working group, joined the meeting alongside members with experience and expertise in various fields.
Mayor Poramet outlined the group’s direction and assigned responsibilities, stressing that Pattaya’s broader goal is to develop the city in ways that generate sustainable income while strengthening its position as a major tourism destination. He called on the working group to study Pattaya’s development strategies and plans so members can better understand the city’s direction and contribute within a clear framework and with measurable goals.
The mayor highlighted Pattaya’s ongoing Better Pattaya development approach, which has produced projects covering tourism promotion, sports tourism and cultural tourism. He said the working group should understand its role and responsibilities and work in the same direction as the city administration to help advance these initiatives.
The group’s responsibilities include studying and analyzing development projects and policies related to sports, communications and organizational image, building public-relations networks and developing new communication channels. Members will also collect information and establish guidelines for tourism, sports, culture and organizational-image initiatives in line with Pattaya’s three goals, 33 policies and five development strategies.
The working group will provide advice and recommendations to the city administration based on its research and analysis, while helping integrate more effective approaches to public relations and Pattaya’s image. Another key responsibility will be developing communication channels that respond more effectively to residents and service users in the digital era. The group will report its progress and recommendations directly to the Pattaya mayor and undertake additional assignments when requested.
The initiative brings together different generations and areas of expertise, with the city administration hoping the combination of experience and new perspectives will help Pattaya strengthen tourism, sports and cultural development while building a more sustainable and recognizable city image.
