CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A six-wheel truck carrying a full load of cooking gas overturned and burst into flames on the Chiang Mai–Lampang Superhighway in Saraphi district, Chiang Mai, on Wednesday morning, August 19. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. amid heavy rain, with initial reports suggesting slippery road conditions may have caused the truck to lose control and overturn. The truck caught fire shortly after the crash, sending flames across the highway. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and eventually brought the blaze under control. Police said the driver reportedly escaped from the vehicle in time. No injuries or deaths were reported.

Chiang Mai provincial police chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Yutthana Kaenchan said officers were questioning the driver while examining evidence to determine the exact cause of the crash. Traffic was temporarily disrupted, but officers from Saraphi Police Station have since cleared the road and vehicles are now able to pass normally.

Slippery road conditions are suspected to have caused the gas truck to lose control, resulting in a dramatic rollover and fire on the highway.
