
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Navy on Monday conducted the first minor rehearsal for the Royal Barge Procession along the Chao Phraya River, in preparation for the Royal Kathin robe-offering ceremony scheduled for November 6, 2026. At 9:30 a.m. near the Rama VIII Bridge, Admiral Pairoj Fuangchan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, presided over the opening ceremony for the rehearsal. The event marks the start of preparations for the procession celebrating Her Majesty Queen Suthida’s 48th birthday anniversary on June 3, 2026. High-ranking naval commanders and 2,200 oarsmen took part in the training.
Addressing the personnel, Admiral Pairoj urged all crew members to dedicate themselves fully with physical and mental strength, ensuring the procession achieves maximum elegance to honor the monarchy and impress both Thai citizens and international visitors. The Royal Thai Navy has scheduled a total of 10 minor rehearsals and two major rehearsals to refine the formation. Following Monday’s exercise, the second minor rehearsal will take place on August 20. The two full-scale rehearsals are set for October 21 and October 28, 2026, ahead of the official royal ceremony on November 6. (TNA)
