PATTAYA, Thailand – Chonburi authorities and provincial police are joining forces under a “One Administration, One Police” approach to tackle drugs, firearms, serious crime, cybercrime, foreign nominee businesses and threats affecting residents and tourists. Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaivong led the operation briefing on August 17 alongside Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongphan Wongmanithets, Deputy Governor Isra Charoenchasri and representatives from relevant agencies.

The joint operation follows the government’s policy of integrating administrative and police operations to prevent and suppress crime while protecting the lives and property of residents, tourists and businesses. Authorities reported significant results in several areas. From June 2026 to the present, police have brought 1,231 drug cases against 1,260 suspects. Seized drugs included 41,008 methamphetamine tablets, 3,902.986 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 931.46 grams of ketamine, 201 ecstasy tablets and 500,000 grams of cannabis. Authorities also seized assets linked to drug networks worth 95.4 million baht over a 90-day period, ranking Chonburi first among provincial police forces in Police Region 2. Since October 1, 2025, total seized drug-network assets have exceeded 204 million baht.

Cybercrime operations resulted in 37 cases and 45 arrests, with authorities investigating 26 mule accounts and seizing or freezing assets worth more than 12.99 million baht. Authorities also targeted influential figures and serious crime, taking action against six people, resolving nine of 12 reported informal-debt cases and making 48 arrests. The campaign against foreign nominee businesses is another major focus, particularly in Chonburi’s tourism economy. Authorities inspected 96 businesses, finding violations at 24 and prosecuting 22. Tourism areas were also subject to wider security operations. Officials inspected 463 establishments, followed up on 20 incidents involving tourists, held 57 coordination meetings, conducted 1,759 patrols and preventive operations, and carried out 149 community-policing activities.

Firearms become a priority

Firearms have been placed among the government’s urgent security priorities, prompting Chonburi authorities and police to intensify efforts to remove illegal weapons from circulation. Between June 1 and August 16, 2026, authorities seized 88 firearms and 209 rounds of ammunition.

Of the firearms seized, 71 were unregistered or illegal weapons, accounting for 80.7%, while 17 were registered firearms, accounting for 19.3%. Authorities also seized three explosive devices, including two training grenades and one smoke grenade.

Officials said the operation aims to prevent dangerous weapons from being used in crimes and reduce risks to residents, tourists and businesses. Chonburi authorities and provincial police said the “One Administration, One Police” approach will continue, covering drugs, firearms, serious and technology-related crime, influential figures, foreign nominee businesses and security in tourism areas. The broader objective is to maintain public order while strengthening confidence among residents, tourists and businesses across Chonburi.
