BANGKOK, Thailand – Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya wore a gray-and-black striped silk ensemble featuring the traditional turtle-scale motif, woven by a SUPPORT Foundation member from Ban Na Wa in Nakhon Phanom province, on August 13. The textile was developed under the guidance of Her Royal Highness during the opening of Silk Festival 2025: Toward Sustainable Development on December 3, 2025. Her Royal Highness advised the artisan to reinterpret the traditional turtle-scale motif by adding stripes, a classic textile pattern that has remained popular through the years.
After refining the design, the artisan presented the fabric to Her Royal Highness at the royal worktable on January 21, 2026. This occurred during a royal visit to an exhibition of Northeastern Thai textiles and community handicrafts organized by the Community Development Department under the Ministry of Interior.
The exhibition was held at the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall at Khon Kaen University in Nai Mueang subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen district, Khon Kaen province.
The ensemble was designed and tailored by Theeraphan Wannarat, Thailand’s 2019 National Artist in Visual Arts for Fashion Design.
