SATTAHIP, Thailand – Samae San Municipality has sent workers to schools across the area to trim large tree branches and remove trees considered hazardous, aiming to protect students and teachers during the rainy season. On August 14, Samae San Mayor Prasert Phithakkorn assigned municipal staff to carry out urgent tree-trimming and removal work at schools under the municipality’s jurisdiction.
The operation was launched amid concerns over unstable weather and continuing heavy rain, which could cause large branches or weakened trees to fall onto school buildings, vehicles or people.
Municipal crews arrived with equipment to cut back dense branches and limbs extending towards classrooms and other school facilities. Trees considered at risk of falling were also removed where necessary.
Officials said the work is intended to reduce the risk of accidents and create a safer environment for students and educational staff, particularly during periods of strong wind and heavy rainfall.
Teachers and parents reportedly welcomed the operation, praising the municipality for taking preventive action rather than waiting for a dangerous tree or branch to cause an accident.
The municipality said maintaining safe school grounds remains a priority, particularly during the rainy season when wet soil, strong winds and heavy rainfall can increase the risk of falling trees and branches.
