PATTAYA, Thailand – Authorities in Sattahip have stepped up security operations, with district officials, police and local community leaders joining forces to establish checkpoints targeting drugs, illegal weapons and other unlawful activities. The operation follows an order from Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong, with Sattahip District Chief Officer Nattawut Anuyotha directing district officials to work with officers from Sattahip Police Station. Traffic Police Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Phatthananand Somnuan, along with village headmen and village security volunteers, joined the operation and established checkpoints in areas considered at risk.
The authorities are focusing on intercepting illegal drugs, firearms and other prohibited items, with anyone found carrying weapons illegally facing prosecution under the law. Officials said the operation forms part of a broader seven-point security strategy designed to strengthen crime prevention and improve safety across Sattahip.
The measures include monitoring former prisoners, establishing checkpoints, inspecting suspicious locations, intensifying efforts against drug offences, tightening checks on the carrying of weapons and inappropriate conduct, and preventing the illegal production of drugs and distribution or use of prohibited chemicals. The coordinated operation is aimed not only at preventing crime but also at protecting residents and visitors.
Authorities said maintaining safety in the community is a priority and that stronger cooperation between district officials, police, village leaders and local security volunteers will help create a safer environment and strengthen confidence among tourists visiting Sattahip. The increased security presence comes as Sattahip continues to attract both Thai and international visitors, making effective crime prevention and public safety an important part of maintaining the area’s reputation as a tourism destination.
