BANGKOK, Thailand – The Faculty of Medicine and its Medical Student Club at Chulalongkorn University are inviting the public to support the 2026 Ananda Mahidol Day campaign, “Care Beyond Cancer,” which raises funds for underprivileged patients and ailing Buddhist monks. Faculty representatives and medical students visited Government House today (Aug 11) to present commemorative Ananda Mahidol Day pins and shirts to Cabinet members. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul made a donation and asked his team to publicize the campaign on social media to encourage public contributions.
The commemorative pins are produced annually in remembrance of His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol, Rama VIII, and provide the public with an opportunity to contribute to charitable causes. Proceeds from this year’s campaign will help patients who lack sufficient financial resources for medical care and Buddhist monks receiving treatment. Ananda Mahidol Day is observed annually on June 9, the anniversary of the passing of King Rama VIII. The day holds special importance for Chulalongkorn University’s medical community because of the late king’s role in establishing its Faculty of Medicine and his contributions to medical education in Thailand.
