Myanmar Foreign Minister pledges stronger business ties with Thailand

Myanmar Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe meets Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association President Pisanu Suvanajata to discuss expanding bilateral business and long-term cooperation.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Myanmar’s foreign minister has affirmed readiness to cooperate with Thai businesses across all dimensions, emphasizing the strong relations between the two neighboring countries. Tin Maung Swe, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, held discussions with Pisanu Suvanajata, President of the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association, during a visit to Thailand. The meeting was attended by Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand Zaw Zaw Soe. During the friendly talks, Tin Maung Swe noted that Thailand and Myanmar maintain good relations at both government and people-to-people levels. He acknowledged the role of the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association in strengthening bilateral ties and expressed hope that the organization would help sustain long-term relations. He added that the Myanmar government and its private sector are willing to cooperate fully with Thai businesses.



Pisanu said the foreign minister’s visit demonstrated constructive engagement between the two nations, welcoming positive outcomes from recent talks within the framework of friendship. He reiterated the association’s commitment to advancing mutual interests and promoting warm, supportive relations. Pisanu also noted that Senior General Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand in the near future. He said the association is prepared to help welcome the Myanmar leader and organize activities to connect the private sectors of both nations, particularly in trade, arts, religion, and culture. To mark the occasion, Pisanu and the association’s committee hosted a welcome dinner for the Myanmar delegation. Attendees included Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs; Tor Saralamba, Thai Ambassador to Yangon. (TNA)
