BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi has instructed the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) to urgently assist those injured and the families of victims of the Lat Phrao beerhouse fire this morning. The OCPB is working with the Chatuchak District Office and other agencies to gather information, provide legal assistance, and help affected consumers seek compensation for medical expenses, property damage, and related losses.
A complaint and victim assistance center has been set up at Phahon Yothin MRT Station. The center receives complaints, documents, and evidence, and provides legal guidance to injured individuals and bereaved families. The Minister stated that customers are entitled to safety and legal protection as consumers. The OCPB will mediate between affected parties and the operator to facilitate negotiations and ensure prompt, fair compensation.
The agency will coordinate with investigators to collect evidence. If the operator does not accept responsibility or provide appropriate redress, the Consumer Protection Board will initiate civil proceedings on behalf of affected consumers at no cost. Criminal proceedings will remain with Phahon Yothin Police Station. Affected individuals and relatives can contact the center at Phahon Yothin MRT Station, call the OCPB hotline at 1166, use the OCPB Connect app, submit information on the OCPB website, or reach Damrongdhama Centers nationwide.
