PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand attracted more than 4 billion baht in foreign film production investment during the first half of 2026, reinforcing its position as one of Asia’s leading filming destinations and putting the country on course for another record-breaking year. Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploytalay Laksmeesangchan said 302 foreign productions received filming permits from the Department of Tourism between January and June, generating 4.025 billion baht in investment.
The figure already exceeds half of the total investment recorded throughout 2025, with several major international productions scheduled to begin filming in Thailand during the second half of the year. Officials believe 2026 has a strong chance of setting a new annual revenue record. Feature films generated the largest investment, with 21 productions contributing 1.989 billion baht. Reality and game shows followed with 22 productions worth 811 million baht, while 152 commercial productions accounted for 710 million baht.
The United States remained Thailand’s largest foreign production market, investing 1.543 billion baht, followed by Hong Kong (322 million baht), Finland (300 million baht), Germany (297 million baht), and the United Kingdom (230 million baht). The government said the results reflect Thailand’s growing reputation as a global filming destination, supported by its diverse locations, experienced production crews, modern filming infrastructure and competitive investment incentives.
A key attraction is Thailand’s Film Incentive Measures, which offer foreign productions cash rebates of up to 30% on qualifying expenditures. The government said the incentive programme is helping position Thailand as a regional hub for international film and content production while generating long-term economic benefits through investment, employment and tourism.
