PATTAYA, Thailand – A long-term Na Jomtien resident has raised concerns over what he describes as the gradual expansion of informal beach vendors along Na Jomtien Beach, warning that the situation could worsen if left unchecked. In a letter shared with Pattaya Mail, reader Patrick said the activity has slowly increased in the area opposite a local hotel along Na Jomtien Beach. He explained that it began with a small number of beach chair rentals, later expanding to kite sales and, more recently, mobile food vendors operating from sidecar motorcycles parked along the beachside.

According to him, vendors typically begin setting up around 5:00 p.m., with activity becoming more visible after dark, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Patrick said he has previously raised the issue with the local municipality but feels the situation has not been addressed unless it receives public attention. He expressed concern that the area could return to conditions seen several years ago, when authorities were forced to carry out large-scale enforcement operations to clear beachfront encroachment.

While noting that the situation has not yet escalated to that level, he hopes early intervention can prevent further deterioration. At present, he added, there have been no reports of fireworks in the area. Na Jomtien is a neighboring sub-district of Pattaya, operating under a different local administration from Pattaya City Hall, with its own municipal authority responsible for local management and enforcement.
