BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), through the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) and its AI Governance Center (AIGC), officially launched AI Governance Week 2026 (AIGW 2026) under the theme “Connecting the Right Dots: From Global AI Principles to Real-World Practice.” Held from 29 June to 3 July 2026 at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai Bangkok and Mandarin Hotel Bangkok, the event brings together policymakers, international organizations, technology leaders, and experts from Thailand and abroad to exchange practical approaches to responsible AI adoption. Opening the event, Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, emphasized that AI has become a transformative force across all sectors, making trust a key foundation for sustainable innovation. He highlighted Thailand’s strong performance in global AI Governance rankings and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to turning AI Governance into a national competitive advantage through practical implementation and international collaboration.
A major highlight of AIGW 2026 is Thailand’s transition from the AI Governance Center (AIGC) to the AI Governance Practice Center (AIGPC), which aims to serve as a regional hub for AI Ethics and AI Governance in Practice. The initiative will develop practical frameworks, tools, and best practices tailored to the Thai context while contributing to regional AI Governance efforts. Throughout the five-day program, participants will explore key topics including AI Red Teaming for the banking sector, the launch of the AI Ethical Impact Assessment (AI EIA) Playbook & Toolkits, AI education, AI regulation, intellectual property, and AI for justice. Supported by more than 40 partner organizations and expected to welcome over 1,000 participants, AIGW 2026 showcases Thailand’s readiness to advance AI Governance through three flagship mechanisms: AIGPC, AI EIA Playbook & Toolkits, and AI Red Teaming, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a regional AI Governance hub.
